The temperature is dropping overnight, with the untreated (or partially treated) roads now icing over. The A6 has been well treated, but roads up and around Monyash and Sheldon are still covered with a layer of snow and ice, despite the farmers doing their best to keep the roads clear.
There is now a yellow and amber warning in effect for ice and snow over the weekend!
Occasional snow showers will continue in the far west, especially across the Peak District, but most places dry with clear spells. Brisk northwest winds continuing. Very cold, with widespread frost expected, and a risk of icy patches. Minimum Temperature -3 °C.
Further snow showers are likely in the far west, but otherwise it should be a fine, and largely dry day with sunny spells. Winds easing, but remaining very cold. Maximum Temperature 3 °C.
Sunday, snow spreading from south, with significant accumulations expected. Monday, windy with wintry showers, perhaps more general rain, sleet or snow in southeast for a time. Largely dry, sunny Tuesday.
